Spongebob Digital Camera Review – 2010
I reviewed this digital camera because my child was getting older and wanted a camera of their own.
Now that the weather is getting warmer, L wants to play outside in the water. She has so much fun with the hose and playing with her new Step 2 water activity table. She also loves to take pictures, so I have to watch my Canon Powershot G7.
I have already had to repair it once. To remedy this problem, I looked for a digital camera for L. Waterproof would be a bonus – one she could take to the pool, and it wouldn’t break from getting splashed.
Here it is! Available from Toys R Us for $29.99. Allow me to introduce you to the camera.
This is the camera in the waterproof plastic case. To open it you unhinge it on the right. I don’t know what the plastic thing is on top – perhaps a viewfinder of some sort?
The rear view. There is no preview screen. The blue button in the middle scrolls through the different menu options, and they appear in abbreviated form in the left screen.
As you take photos the number of available photos left on the internal memory displays. There is not a slot for external memory like an SD card.
It takes 2 AAA batteries. To open the battery compartment, you will need a very small screwdriver.
Here is a photo taken on the “Low” setting. Not sure about mp amount – but pretty good quality in my opinion for the price.
I have to admit the software was my favorite part. L enjoyed playing games, and I could let her play on the computer worry-free. In addition to the SpongeBob theme, there are quite a few things you can do to edit your pictures!
My thoughts:
Well, L is still a bit young for this camera. Since there is no preview screen she didn’t quite understand it was taking a picture every time she pushed the button – and the memory was filled up very fast with the same picture over and over. But she still likes to take it around and pretend, which frees up my expensive camera! I love that it is waterproof and the software is a lot of fun for L and I!
You can purchase this camera at Toys R Us and Amazon.com

Cute! Not sure I would like the lack of a preview screen but I think it looks like it would serve it’s purpose–and the software add-ons look nice!

i bought one for my 9 year old son, because he loves loves loves to take pictures….. so he has taken pictures and we are unable to download them. i have tried on two different computers, not that that would really make a difference, but it says software not found. i have been trying to to figure how to fix the problem, and have found that there are other people experiencing the same problem…. beware when buying this product.

Did you find the solution for download tge pictures taken?

Hi Minnelly,
I don’t think they make this camera anymore, and for good reason. They never updated the software and it doesn’t work on computers anymore. I would steer clear of buying it. Unless you can find a way to hack into it, I don’t think you’ll be able to get the pictures off of it.
