Nifty Nappy are trim and absorbent fitted, one size cloth diapers. The owner, Vilate, is known for her friendliness and being super easy to approach with ideas for her business. I know I wasn’t the only one, but as soon as I found out I was expecting my third baby I emailed her to tell her I wanted her to make newborn diapers.
And now she is! Nifty Nappy now makes “Bitty Bums” cloth diapers for newborns that are made to fit under the umbilical chord. Vilate said another inspiration for the teeny diapers was her involvement in the campaign to encourage cloth diaper use in hospitals. How could she be so vocal about the need for hospitals to use cloth diapers and not make super cute, great fitting and easy to use newborn cloth diapers? So she started designing and the Bitty Bums was born!
Newborn cloth diapers are so very cute! When you buy one and hold it in your hands you are just amazed at how teeny they are! You might not be able to tell from the photo alone, but Vilate designed them so they can be folded easily to fit a premie baby as well. So if you are a person that likes a simple cloth diaper stash yet loves cute prints, you can cloth diaper your baby from day one with the Nifty Nappy Bitty Bums and then the One Size diapers.
Me? I like variety. My stash has a ton of different brands and types of cloth diapers – from pockets to fitteds to All in Twos to prefolds, I have it all. It keeps a messy and mundane job interesting for me. And I just heard that one of the Nifty Nappy retailers, Sugar Dipes, sells upcycled t-shirt diapers. You can send in a cute t-shirt you found or even a beloved high school shirt and they will have it sewn up into a Nifty Nappy diaper! These make unique, one of a kind diapers that no on else will have. Below is an example of how they look when they are all sewn up!
I can’t wait to start building my newborn stash! You cannot purchase Nifty Nappys from the main Nifty Nappy website anymore. She doesn’t know when she will sell them directly from her site again – but she has a list of retailers you can purchase from for the time being. Each will have different specials running at different times – I know Little Squigglers has a diaper of the month – so go around and window shop.
This is not a review, this is just me fallin’ in love with newborn dipes! More to come, I promise!
Oh this is such exciting news! I tried making a bunch of my own newborn fitteds for my last son, and while they were functional and I used cute fabrics, they just weren’t up to par with my fave Nifty Nappy dipes. I was so excited when my guy got big enough to wear his Nifty Nappies. (Which honestly wasn’t long, because he was 10 lbs. at birth…so he grew into them quickly.) And now I can’t wait to buy a bunch of newborn Niftys when we have another baby!!!!! Great news.
How neat is that, newborn diapers! The diaper looks so soft.
BTW, do you plan to find out whether your having a boy or girl or to be surprised when the little one is born?
Oh – those upcycled tshirt diapers are uber cute!
I wish I had done this when mine were little. They are so cute now!

Okay I’m all over the up-cycled t-shirt diapers, I’d buy some t-shirts just to have this done. Ha ha first time in a long time, one has made me think of having a baby again, and all over a cloth diaper!
I love newborn fluff! I can’t stop buying even though I think I have enough already!
Oh that is great! I was thinking, if I can ever fall pregnant again, that I would cloth diaper the little love. This is good to know 🙂
The BittyBum diapers are SO soft and comfy. Perfect for a new little baby! They come great prints too!

This reminds me personally of how my baby leaked out through her diaper yesterday evening, believe me it was a major problem!
