Fall is officially here and the party planning for fall birthdays, costume parties and soon thanksgiving get-togethers has begun! MyPunchBowl.com is a convenient site that you can go to and find everything you need for your party planning! They have online e-vites, invitations you can create & print from VistaPrint, party supplies from Oriental Trading Company, and an online pot luck organizer so you can keep track of who is bringing what!
One of my favorite features is how you can find local vendors for your party. So if you are not quite so good at decorating cakes and you live in Kansas City, you can look under the best Kansas City bakeries listing and with a few clicks order your deserts and cake.
Let me take you step by step through the party planning process using MyPunchBowl. I hope you will see how easy and fast it makes the party planning. For the sake of the example I will be planning a Harvest Time Costume party for Lizzie and her friends.
1. Sign up for a free account
You can also sign up with your facebook account. When you sign up you agree to receive periodic newsletters in your inbox, which have unsubscribe options.
2. Start Planning Your Event – Follow the Guide
This is where the creator’s of MyPunchBowl made it easy for you. Just follow their prompts. As you can see from the screenshot below, you start by planning it. If you know the date and it is within the month you can start to create the invitations. If it is awhile away then pick a date. After you select whether you want invitations, save the dates or help finding a date, you can choose what type of party it is (I chose Halloween) and then select your budget!
So let’s say I wanted to have a large costume party but had no idea where I could hold it. I can use their search box and find one. Little hint: They are still growing the site and do not have an exhaustive list of all possible vendors for every single area. When I typed in my query it gave me a nice list, but I know it did not include a few locations that are perfect for little girl parties. After you have a location in mind you can follow the steps down the left hand side and plan the entire party in one evening from your computer!
Everything is right there! When you create your invitations it has a large selection of invitations in the theme you preselected at the beginning or you can create your own from scratch. Then you can manage the guest list, the pot luck, even create a gift registry from amazon.com! You can also create your own To-Do list that is printer friendly so you can take it with you and add to it throughout the day.
I hope this helps you with your next party planning! The next birthday party for me is David’s 2 year party in April – but I will be keeping them at the top of my list when I start planning!
