The green alternative to dryer sheets and ironing is the Mister Steamy dryer ball that utilizes steam in the dryer to release wrinkles and leave clothes soft and fresh.
Created by entrepreneurs Ric Payne and Will Howe, the Mister Steamy dryer ball has a sponge on the inside that holds water and releases steam inside the dryer to smooth wrinkles on clothes. And the Fresh Shot formula can make even forgotten clothes and towels smell fresh again!
It comes in a pack of two, and each dryer ball is the size of a grapefruit. Once inside the dryer, it is pretty loud, but effective. And with a quick run in the dryer with this dryer ball, you don’t have to re-wash clothes that you pick up and smell stale. This saves water and energy.
Below, you can watch my video review and walk with me as I try it out for the first time.
So does it work like they say?
Yes it does! You can see the proof in the photos below. I recommend these dryer balls to people that don’t want to do a lot of ironing. It gets out a lot more wrinkles than simply running them in the dryer alone does. However, this ball will not replace your iron. So if you have some clothes that need to be neatly pressed for, say, a banquet, I wouldn’t rely on the Mister Steamy. This product gets wrinkles out but does not do it as good as ironing does.
As for the Fresh Shot – it leaves behind a light scent, much like dryer sheets. It was not overpowering and was a welcome addition to my newly wrinkle-free clothes.

I was given the dryer balls to review. All opinions are my own.
Awesome! I’ll definitely need to check this out.
Cool. I’ve heard of this, but figured it wouldn’t work. Now I am going to have to check it out I HATE ironing.
Very cool – I hate ironing with a passion!
I have seen this in stores and always wondered about it. I myself hate ironing, so I am going to have to try this out. I love the way more and more inventions are making laundry easier!
Annie, you are just hilarious, I’m glad you do vlogs now. 🙂
I’m not one to ever iron anything which is why my husband usually sends his uniforms to the cleaners which gets super expensive. I may have to try these out and see if we can save a few bucks a month.
