4/26/17 UPDATE:
I wrote this post in 2011. The complete post is below. However, I wanted to inform you that the Save 2nd Base shirts link below do not work. I am not sure what happened to this website / organization.
If you would like to purchase Save 2nd Base t-shirts that also donate to breast cancer research, please purchase from this Etsy shop. Shirts on this shop are $12 each and that includes $5 that is automatically donated to a research fund.
Thank you!
Save 2nd Base sells t-shirts and hats in an effort to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. What sets them apart is their sense of humor. It is the same sense of humor their founder Kelly Rooney had when she designed shirts for a cancer walk. While Kelly lost her fight against breast cancer in 2006, her message is still being spread on the t-shirts and hats she started.
Proceeds from the sale of these items benefit the Kelly Rooney Foundation, which inspires further support, research and eradication of the disease in young women, and pledges ongoing funds for breast cancer research surrounding high-risk women under the age of 40.
I have a very close friend that I watched fight breast cancer. Her family and church family are all celebrating her remission! And we are all still praying that she continues to get these good reports.
The need for cancer research is so real. Cancer, the “c” word, is ugly and a thief. I support organizations that raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research and will continue to help campaign in whatever way I can until they find a cure.
We just had the Race For The Cure out here in Las Vegas yesterday! I had many friends and an aunt that walked to benefit breast cancer 🙂

Awesome tshirt for an amazing cause
My mother’s sister died 1 day after turning 56 from stage 4 breast cancer. I pray one day we will find a cure for this horrible disease
My aunt succumbed to breast cancer after 13 years of having it. Now I have a friend who is going through chemo and radiation due to breast cancer. I think the message of early detection and the fight to find a cure is important. Thanks.

I am so grateful I don’t personally have anyone close to be affected by breast cancer, but I do agree that early detection is key!
Oh my….. DEF count me in. I just talked about this on my blog today. My mom is a survivor and totally would love to wear in her honor!

I think this shirt is super adorable and funny at the same time! Although it did take me a second to get it the 1st time I read it! I was thinking to myself 2nd base? What does 2nd base have to do with breast cancer! Then it hit me and I was Duh! blonde moment! LOL
I have breast cancer on both sides of my family. My paternal grandmother had breast caner and had a mastectomy on I believe it was both breasts. Then both of my aunts (my mom’s sisters) have also had breast cancer and had to have mastectomies. Kinda scary but all were well into their 60s+ when they had it. I turned 35 this year and can now finally go get a mammogram. Insurance wouldn’t pay until I was 35!

One of my girlfriends recently had her breasts removed and just this week had her nipples tattooed on.
My son plays triple A ball and I would love to wear this shirt to his ball games to get people thinking about breast cancer awareness.
