The Motorola XOOM Android tablet has a lot to boast about. It has a camera with megapixels, high speed, and HD display. This tablet is perfect for people that want to watch movies in HD while away from home. It is also perfect for people who like to video chat with loved ones that are far away.
I am an apple girl. Yes, I’m a Mac. I don’t have an iPhone (yet) but will soon. Currently my droid rocks and I have no complaints, I just love Mac products. My desktop is an iMac and I dream of owning a MacBook. So I was thrilled when I was given the chance to physically compare the XOOM to an iPad.
If you didn’t already know, I never claim to be tech savvy. I’m as beginner as they get. This review will reflect my entry-level understanding of computers and tablets. If you are as beginner as I am, I bet you enjoy my simplistic terms!
My video compares side by side, an original iPad and a XOOM. Then, I went online and wrote down the specs of the XOOM vs the iPad2. I’d love to own an iPad2! There are rumors that a XOOM2 is in the works and an iPad3 might or might not follow this fall. There is a lot of room for improvement on both tablets.
Breaking it down: If you use your tablet for movies, XOOM kicks butt. If you want a slim, lightweight tablet for email/games/chatting – the iPad2 will be your fav.
Both tablets work on the Verizon network and when I compared them side by side, both seemed just as fast to me.
Oh, and I totally suggest getting a 3G/4G plan. There are times when my electricity went out and I was very relieved to still have internet via the XOOM (like say during a sever storm). Plus, when we are traveling and I need to google something, it is just nice to not have to find a place with Wi-Fi. A 3G plan is a luxury that I fell in love with during this review.

What do you think? Based on the video and stats above, what do you think you would like best? Or have you had experience with either one? Please share!
*I received the XOOM to review, but I gotta give it back. All these opinions are obviously my own – who else would be this tech-ignorant in a gadget review?
Ooh, I likey! Thanks for the great review! I think I am finally ready to swallow the price tag and buy a tablet! I am leaning more towards the iPad (it’s cheaper!) but I have also never heard of the Xoom until now. I am def going to be checking it out! 🙂
I love Verizon and am so glad the iPad works on their network. Yes, the price point for the iPad is lower so I’d go with it too. If you are in a Verizon store, check out the XOOM just for fun, it’s neat!
Great review! Thanks for breaking down the specs, that is a huge help. I have an iPhone 4 that I LOVE. Can’t live without it. So for me I would most likely go for the iPad2. I hope to have one some day!
Thanks Marianna! I can’t wait to get an iPhone4. From what i Have read the iPhone 4 has a much better camera than the iPad.
Yes it does which was one of the selling points for me. I dong know what I do without it. And yes I am on it right now. 🙂
I’m an Apple girl too, so I’d probably go with that. I know there are people out there that are anti-Apple or more comfortable with Windows so this would be perfect for them.
The XOOM uses the Android system, not windows 😉 But yes, I am much more comfy with apple system than android. But there are some die hard droid lovers out there!
