This is a photo I took last year. It gets awful cold and dangerous in the winter. I am not looking forward to the icy roads we get every single year. To prepare, I am getting new tires on my van. I am saving up so I can get a Toyota Sienna because it is the only minivan made with All Wheel Drive. And I need that all wheel drive more than I need storage space!
I remember the horrible ice storm of 2007. I lived with my in-laws and the power was completely out for almost a week. Now that I am in my own home I am going to put together some survival kits and I’ll call in a Specialist Generator Hire in Liverpool if we have a power outage. Really the only things I need in the survival kit is first aid stuff, water, batteries and flashlights. If you’ve ever experienced an unexpected blackout, then you might appreciate this AllPower generator. We already have a wood burning stove to provide heat to my house and I have contacted propane tank delivery services for my propane stove to cook with. In addition, it is recommend to conduct a thorough HVAC inspection to prepare your heating system for the winter. You may contact a local inspector for professional residential or commercial inspections. If you have questions about hvac services, you may visit sites like https://valleyservice.net/fargo-services/heating-cooling to learn more. You may also need a professional heat pump service seattle wa to inspect your heat pump and avoid heating issues.
We are also going to insulate a few more windows to keep the heat inside and the cold out. Spray foam insulation provides excellent resistance to air infiltration. Then there is the small matter of moving all the outside toys into the shed to prepare for snowfall.
How are you preparing for winter weather? Do you or someone you love have medical alerts? Did you buy winter tires? Did you call a ground source heat pump company to have a heat pump installed?
I can tell you one thing – this is my least favorite weather. I’d rather deal with 100 degree temps and humidity than below zero temps and ice.
To make light of the temps, here is one of my favorite winter songs!

We use our wood stove to cook basic things. Soup, grilled cheese, etc.
We got a little snow today, but only stuck on our grass. (Thank God!)
Please stay safe, I’ll pray for you.

We just bought a generator but I do need to get some emergency medical supplies. You’d think since we lived in Pennsylvania that I’d be better prepared. But I’m not..
Love this song, have you heard the original? So pretty.

We just moved to Kansas in late July and we are not looking forward to all of the snow! We lived in northern VA a few years ago during the worst snow storm in decades. Unfortunately we were only supposed to be there for a few months and were not prepared for the snow. After we moved here we decided to be much more prepared. We have already purchased a snow shovel, ice chopper, and have gotten together a “survival kit” of sorts. Hopefully none of it will be needed!
