I kinda-sorta- totally love Evernote! I am finding myself using it more and more. And this new reliance on an online application shocked me. You see in that picture to the right? That is my current planner. I’ve been a devoted calendar/planner user my entire adult life.
I remember one time in college I left my planner at my work. I freaked out! I didn’t know what homework to do or when I was supposed to work next. It was awful! That is why having Evernote be a cloud application, I am even more in love with it. See, I’m not really all that good at charging all my devices. My phone will die. My XYBoard dies. My laptop dies. But since Evernote syncs with all my apps – even my computer – I am never without my to-do lists and notes!
The Motorola Droid XYBoard fits in my purse and I can use it to go grocery shopping (even looking up recipes as I go – love the All Recipes Dinner Spinner App!) Now the only thing I need is a bluetooth keyboard so I can blog on the go! (That is on my birthday list) My Verizon 4G LTE is always connected so I can always access my notes – whether I have access to Wi-Fi or not. This is the handiest thing, always being connected. (Sidenote: I’m ready for my area to get 4G coverage. Any day now. I’m waiting)
For right now though, Evernote is keeping my blog post ideas and my blog to-do lists organized. I tag my blog ideas with the type of ideas so I can find them easier in searches. For example, I tag one ideas post “recipes” and another one “entertainment.” Then, I organize my to-do lists by date and I view the most recent one first I can also create different notebooks – I have on notebook for To-Do lists and one notebook for Blog and another notebook for Personal Life.
Do you use Evernote? How do you use it?

We use Evernote in my household for shopping lists, meal planning, sharing recipes with friends, collecting WordPress tips…. lots of stuff. 🙂 BTW – Geek Girl site is now up & running. Ready to do a Geek Girl meets Mama Dweeb post?

Good morning! I need help, please direct me. I recently bought the xyboard 10.1 (and the bluetooth keyboard…you will love it). You description of written calendaring sounds just likek me. I do love gadgets though. In any case, I need help understanding how to use Evernote. For some reason I just don’t get something. Is there a video or something that I can find to help me? Also, Geek Girl, I’m going to check your site also…I love gadgets, I am a mother, wife, active at church and in the community and I work outside my home. Lists and planning are critical for me. I am open to all the tips I can possibly get. Thank you.

Good morning Christian! I actually have an “introduction to Evernote” blog in draft and your comment is motivating me to finish it sooner. I think I should have it completed and published on Friday morning. I want to do a video walk through of it too because screenshots are wonderful, but a video is easier to grasp for me 🙂
