As I browse page after page on internet shopping sites and cruise the toy aisles at stores, I am struck by something: are these toys so special that my kids will treasure them their entire life? When I look back on my childhood, I remember certain gifts more than others. I remember my bath towel with my name quilted on it. I remember the pillow made out of my favorite fabric (teddy bears) and my name on the bottom left corner.
Personal gifts are treasures. I want to give my children a treasure this year, something they will pack away and pull out when they get older.
A few ideas for personal gifts – please share your own in the comments!
1. Personalized clothing
Bright Star Kids has a bunch of seriously cute clothes for kids that are customizable! You can pick from a huge selection of adorable designs and then type the name or nickname of your child and they print it.
These also make fabulous baby shower gifts! You can order a different shirt / romper for each month for those memorable pictures.
Right now you can save 15% off your purchase of $30 or more using the coupon code “GIFT”.
2. Photos in frames / photo books
This is a gift that is at the top of my list every single year. I spend time browsing and picking out the best pictures from the year or from a single event (like graduation). Photo books are cherished. They are the keepers of memories.
And sometimes I get lucky and find the perfect picture frame. One that says the perfect phrase or communicates exactly how I feel about someone. I put the photo in the frame and wait with anticipation to see their reaction as they open it!
3. Custom designed bulletin board
My six year old Lizzie is at the age where she loves displaying her artwork and putting up pictures of her friends. There are some fabulous ideas for DIY bulletin boards. My favorite one is from An Oregon Cottage. Her tutorial is so basic and leaves tons of room for creative customization.
Be different this Christmas & get the kids a super cute gift personalized especially for them! Save 15% when you use the code “GIFT” in the shopping cart. Min spend $30. Expires December 15, 2013.
