I remember the morning I found out I was pregnant with Lucy. David was barely a year old and I was trying to cut his hair while he sat in his stroller. He – being 12 months old – would not sit still. I – being very untrained in hair cutting – made a terrible mess of his hair. As he squirmed and his hair cut looked worse and worse, I stood up, screamed at the ceiling and ran to my bedroom, crying. Feeling the sudden lack of emotional control, I ran to the bathroom and took the pregnancy test. I just had this feeling. Just like I did with all three of my kids. My body felt “off” – and I just knew I was pregnant. I am definitely NOT one of those women that can be pregnant and not know it. And sure enough, I was pregnant! 20 months later after her brother, Lucy was born!

But one thing I didn’t know, was how far along I was. You see, I didn’t keep very good track of my cycle. I had a barely 3 year old and 1 year old to take care of – including my new blog. Tracking my periods was the last thing on my mind.
In all of my crazy life, I think an at-home kit for knowing how far along you are is definitely valuable! For one thing, it would have verified my guessing on my cycle dates and due date of the baby. It would be cool if instead of stopping at “3+” it could tell you “8+” weeks. I just feel like there are those women out there who don’t know they are pregnant right away and being shown on the test that they are more than a month along would get them to the doctor faster – for an example click here. It is only a matter of time, though! I bet they continue to find ways to improve this and make it more accurate for longer.
