Lucy picked up the phone. Stared at the numbers on the keypad. Then, she handed the phone to me.
“Mommy, can you type in her password? I want to call grandma right now!”
I laughed. It just occurred to me that my children are not used to typing in a phone number. In fact, I doubt they even know what that is. On my iPhone, they just tap “phone” and type in “Grandma” and then tap her name and it calls her.
Ok, back up. Why exactly do we have this phone all of a sudden? Because I scored a fab sponsored post opportunity and have got to check out the magicJackGO device.
We haven’t had a landline phone in years (not one my children can remember). I’ve been back and forth about getting one. I really, and I mean serious as a heart attack, don’t want a phone that will ring with endless calls from telemarketers, non-profit fundraisers, or political ads. So we just decided “no land line.”
The magicJackGO connects phone service through your wi-fi. We still don’t have landline telephone service, but after signing up for the 1 year of FREE service, we were given a phone number and the phone now has a dial tone! I think the best part about this phone is: It is only a phone. Not a phone and gaming device. Not phone and email service. Just a phone. My kids (once I write down the phone numbers) can call their grandma, cousin, and anyone else they want to, without using my phone.
All new users also receive a FREE conference call number – I haven’t used mine yet. But I am thinking about how handy this will be if I need to set up a call with a brand and discuss deliverables of a campaign. I won’t have rely on them to set it up, I can have my own private number.
Just like a phone – oh oh (singing)
Check out what comes with your free year of service with magicJackGO – free voicemail, free call waiting, free call forwarding, free 411, free caller ID, and no monthly bills.
So it’s just like a phone, but not. I get all that fun stuff and not the monthly bills. (dancing)
Oh and the call forwarding thing? I can set it up so all my calls go to my cell phone when I am not there. Or not. I could totally just ignore it and let all calls go to voicemail. I like that option better. But it’s nice to have that option, right? Yup!
The nitty gritty
Basically, if you buy the $59.95 magicJackGO device, it comes with a year free trial. You plug it into your computer or router and then plug your phone into the device. Set up your account, get a phone number (or keep the landline you have) and you are ready to make and receive phone calls!
After a year, you can choose any one of their affordable plans and keep this service going. (We are talking super cheap – $5 a month or $20 for 6 months).
We use it, my kids love it, and my mom adores getting calls from her grandkids. Would you get one and use it?
You could win one and then decide for yourself if you seriously love it or not! Yup – one lucky MamaDweeb reader will win a magicJackGO device – $59.95 value!
Just comment and tell me: Who would be the first person you would call using a new MagicJackGO?
