I have been compensated by JOHNSON’S® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own. I’m happy to be sharing about making your baby’s first road trip as comfortable as home.
I love traveling, especially with my husband. Travel hasn’t ever really stressed me out too bad. But there have been a few exhausting days where I snapped as I pulled the suitcase. What are the common things about travel that stress us parents out? The worry that we forgot something important, not getting enough sleep, eating the wrong foods, and just missing the comforts of home. These are all things that also stress out your baby. But it’s possible to have a stress-free road trip with your baby that is as comfortable as home.
For parents traveling with babies, the stress of travel can be amplified. Not only do they need to worry about their own needs, but also the needs of their little ones. This is where monthly baby essentials subscription boxes can come in handy. By having a regular supply of baby essentials delivered to their doorsteps, parents can reduce their stress levels when it comes to packing for trips. With everything from diapers and wipes to baby food and toys, these subscription boxes can ensure that parents have everything they need to keep their little ones happy and comfortable while on the go. This can make all the difference when it comes to enjoying a stress-free vacation with the family.
When embarking on a road trip with a baby, the importance of preparation cannot be overstated. Alongside the typical essentials, such as diapers and wipes, parents may also want to consider the comfort and safety of their little traveler. The organic baby clothes, known for their softness and gentle touch on sensitive skin, can be a thoughtful addition to the packing list. These garments not only prioritize the well-being of the baby but also align with eco-conscious values, which many families prioritize today. Ensuring a smooth journey involves anticipating the needs of the baby at every turn.
After all my travels with babies I gathered a few tips and I hope they help you too!
How to Make Your Baby’s First Road Trip As Comfortable As Home
Take Care of Yourself First
A stressed out parent makes a stressed out baby. Babies feed off the emotions of their parents. Take an inner inventory – what is creating anxiety? Before you even think of packing for the road trip, address your emotions and prepare for a relaxing time with your family.
For me, having no plan stresses me out, but so does having too strict of a schedule. I have to outline a general plan for the trip and then allow myself to be ok with any hiccups or changes that arise.
Pack The Comforts Of Home
Pack the same shampoo from home to use on the road. The scents will remind your baby of home and bring calm and peace at bedtime.
JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® baby wash is my favorite baby wash! The scent just smells like fresh, clean, baby! I used it on all 3 of my kids. So of course when my dear friend had a baby recently I had to buy this for her. It was easy to find at Walmart – in the baby section near the bathtubs. (Very logical placement if you ask me).
Be Flexible – Plan Time to Rest
One of the highest causes of stress is exhaustion. You have less patience and your brain doesn’t work as logically when you are tired.
If possible, split up your road trip into multiple days. Sleeping in the car isn’t as rejuvenating as sleeping in a bed. The dream on me bassinet is the only thing you’ll need for when putting your baby to sleep when out of town.
Don’t Overpack
I know I said to pack the comforts of home, but be careful not to try and pack everything from home into your car. Overpacking is almost worse than not packing enough. When you overpack, it’s more difficult to find what you need, the bags are heavier, and there is less room in the car.
If it helps, make a list of the items you think you need. Then prioritize them by what you can buy on the road or when you arrive at your destination. It might seem wasteful to buy what you need instead of packing what you have, but it will save your sanity.
With these easy tips, you can make your baby’s first road trip a success! Don’t forget to take lots of pics and maybe even make a memory book from it. Try to do all you can to enjoy it, even if things happen that stress you out.
