Learn how to make a keto low-carb dinner that tastes fresh and spicy! These keto salmon chaffle tacos are unlike anything you’ve ever made!
I know I’ve had fish tacos before, but they are usually made with tortillas – a big “no-no” on keto. Thankfully, there is a way to make trendy chaffles out of salmon!
What Are Chaffles?
Chaffles are a big trend in keto dieting. “Ch” comes from “cheese” and “affle” from “waffles.” They are basically cheese and eggs on a waffle iron.
The fun part is when you add things like different types of cheese, spices, and even meat to the chaffles. The options are endless!
In this case, I added salmon and cheese to make some salmon chaffles. They are a high-protein lunch or dinner idea with tons of flavor.
Here are some really creative chaffle recipes that will take you beyond the hum-drum of keto lunches.
How To Make Salmon Chaffles
The entire recipe is in the recipe card further below! It’s printable, so you can even bring it up on it’s own screen and follow it on your iPad or phone while you make dinner.
First, I’m going to share some tips and some step-by-step pictures too.
What’s In Salmon Chaffles?
For my chaffles, I used the following whole ingredients.
- Salmon – canned salmon was softer, already pre-cooked, and easier to use on the waffle maker
- Almond Flour – Use almond flour, not almond meal. Almond meal leaves a grainy texture.
- Eggs
- Salt
- Jalapeno – You can leave it out if you don’t like it spicy
- Red Onion – Use any kind of onion you have on hand.
- Green Onion
- Orange Pepper
- Garlic
- Dill – Fresh has the best flavor, but you can still use dried if you have it on hand.
- Lemon
- Mayo
- Matchstick carrots
- Siracha Mayo
- Greek Yogurt
- Butter Lettuce – This is for the wraps, so you want a lettuce that is large enough to hold your chaffles.
You’ll mix everything in the ingredients list (up to the carrots, sriracha mayo, Greek yogurt, and butter lettuce) in a large bowl.
Put the mixture in the waffle iron. Depending on the size of your waffle maker, it should make about 5 chaffles.
Check on it after about 3 minutes. Most chaffles take 3-4 minutes to fully bake.
Now you are ready to assemble them! Cut the chaffles into stripes and place them on a lettuce leaf. Then, top with the carrots, sriracha mayo, and green onion. You are going to love them!
