How To Make Homemade Creamed Corn
You found one of my favorite recipes! You can also make this in the slow cooker if you don’t want to mess with the oven. This recipe is so popular that my kids ask me to make it with almost every meal – even the picky ones!
This recipe is so easy – all you do is mix everything in the skillet. Seriously, that is it!
What’s In Skillet Creamed Corn
If the first thing you think of when you hear “creamed corn” is that runny stuff in the can, you haven’t tried this recipe!
It has a thick, sweet cream that covers each kernel of corn. There is nothing mushy about my skillet recipe!
The entire recipe is in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. There are literally just 6 easy ingredients in it:
- Heavy Cream
- Corn Starch
If you pre-measure all the ingredients before you start, the entire thing can be cooked in 15 minutes. When life is crazy and my mind is in a bunch of places, this saves me from losing my spot in the recipe.
Add the cream last. This will make sure that all the other ingredients (like the butter) melt and combine completely. It also prevents the cream from burning.
What Does Creamed Corn Go With?
It’s also beautiful enough (and you can make a ton of it) to serve at a family holiday dinner!
How To Make Creamed Corn In The Slow Cooker
To cook it in your Crock Pot, just put all the ingredients in it and mix it up completely. Heat it on low for about 3-4 hours or on high for 4-6 hours. It might even be ready sooner than that.
If you make it in the slow cooker, stir it frequently so that you distribute the butter and sugar to all the corn. It’s so delicious!
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1/4 Cup Butter
- 1 Tbs Sugar
- 1 Tsp Corn Starch
- 16oz Corn
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- Place corn in a skillet.
- Add sugar, butter, salt & corn starch. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly until mixture begins to thicken and bubble.
- Stir in cream.
- Continue to heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture is hot.
