If you’re more of a visual learner, here are some photos of each step of the process.
Make Each Layer Flat
Since this is a 3-layer cake, you need it to stack without falling over. The best way to do this is to carefully slice the bubbled top off the cake after it cools completely.
Use Buttercream In Between Layers
Make plenty of buttercream frosting, you will use it! Be generous and add enough frosting that it will help each layer stick together effectively.
Add A Crumb Layer
The crumb layer is extremely important. Don’t worry about making it perfect, just add frosting to all sides and the top of the cake. Then, let it cool completely. After the crumb layer has dried a bit, you can add the final, smooth layer of vanilla frosting.
Insert Cake Toppers
Even though you can make your own toppers, it’s easier to buy a pack of them. Add them to your cake.
Pipe Pink Frosting
Use your favorite piping tip to add the pink frosting on top. That’s it! You’re ready to show off your lovely Easter Bunny unicorn cake!
Feel free to use store-bought frosting, or use my recipe for homemade buttercream frosting. The recipe and decorating instructions are below.
