Her name is Lucy. She is our baby and has always been full of surprises – even from the moment I found out I was pregnant. Yeah, totally wasn’t expecting that. Since she was such a (wonderful) shock, I had no idea what we were going to name her, we even used a Word Combiner several times to see if we’d come up with a brand new name.
And yes, I knew she was a she before I even went to the sonogram.
While I didn’t name all my kids with the same letter or sound like some families, Lizzie and David have one thing in common – both are regal names. Queen Elizabeth and King David. Both are strong names and have a classical feel to them.
So I wanted to keep with that same feeling. I wanted this baby to be regal. But the only Queen name I could think of was Isabella. And “Lizzie” and “Izzie” was just too similar. (And looking at Lucy, she is so not an Isabelle)
Then we saw “I am Sam.” Dakota Fanning played a little blond girl named Lucy. And I remembered the Narnia books – Queen Lucy! Regal, classic, and just unique enough for me.
Lucille. My Lucy Goosey! The name fits her so perfectly.
It wasn’t easy, but that is how I decided on my baby’s name. How did you decide on your baby’s name? Or do you have a great story on how your parents decided on your name?Tell me for a chance to win a year’s supply of cards from Cardstore.com!
