I am slowly working my way around my house and trying to create little bits and pieces of beautiful organization. My command center was bugging me so much before! We had these Post-It brand pockets I affixed to my wall. Not only did it look tacky, you could see all the papers sticking out every which way and it drove me crazy! I could not tell at a glance what I was supposed to do with these items.
Basically, I had my junk drawer stuck to my wall for everyone to see.
Nice.
And that little shelving unit became a magnet for, well, anything. It was a horizontal surface that collected bills, toys, tools, and trash.
With a little Pinterest Inspiration, I changed the entire thing!
I love pretty things. My friend Sara is a Thirty-One Gifts consultant and that company makes some seriously pretty things. So does Erin Condren…(none of these are affiliate links btw) So when I was redoing my command center, I pulled out the Thirty-One Gifts fold N file. It makes me so happy to see that pink/charcoal/blue chevron! It has pockets for my keys and cards and the handles make it so I can easily move it if I need to.
Here is the inside of the fold and file! Yes, I had to buy pretty file folders too. Why get organized if you can’t have fun with it? I organized my files alphabetically.
My files are:
- Annie
- Coupons
- To File
This is just the beginning – I am sure I will have many more files inside as I get going. I have an expandable file container next to my desk where I keep important documents.
And on the side I have a pocket where I put envelopes that need mailed! So easy. So clean. So happy!
How do you organize your command center? Do you have a pinterest board for organizing ideas? I’d love to follow it!

our filing system is a cabinet and a bills folder, but in the last 2 years it’s all gotten out of hand. I mean do I really need the hospital bills from my daughter’s birth almost 5 years ago? perhaps not.. the medical folder is HUGE! I need to shred or something?!? Ugh…
