Perfect Paint Chip Bookmarks
Make these simple bookmarks, perfect for keeping place in your latest novel or magazine. Start by scalloping the end of the paint chip with scissors. For ours, we just made simple zig zag shapes. Add a dab of glue to a piece of ribbon. Twist the ribbon and glue it to the back of the paint chip. You can also punch a hole in the paint chip and run the ribbon through that way. Your bookmark is now ready for use. How easy was that?
2. Crafty Kid’s Cut Outs
Create a variety of cut outs to glue to cards and fun landscapes. To make your own, simply cut triangles out of the paint chips for trees. You can cut simple snowmen from the blue chips, as well as snow and snowflakes. We also used a red paint chip top cut out a simple candy cane shape. These cut outs are so easy and versatile!
3. Nifty Napkin Rings
If you want a pop of color at your holiday table, these nifty napkin rings fit the bill. Simply roll the paint chip into a loop and glue the end to secure the loop closed. For our sample picture we used green chips, but you can use red or any other coordinating color you wish. We left ours plain, however you can use whatever embellishments you choose. When done, just roll your napkin up and slip it through the ring. Dinner is served.
4. Festive Bunting Banner
It is easy to make a festive bunting banner using paint chips and a little ribbon. Simply use the larger, square paint chips as your base. Use the skinnier, multi color strips for your lettering. We free handed the letters for ours, snipping out a simple “Merry” motif. Use craft glue to tie the letters onto the solid colored cards and your banner is ready to go! Simply hang the cards on ribbon or glue them to a length of ribbon. These look great draped from mantels, doorways, or anywhere you need a pop of color.
5. Easy gift tags
Don’t spend big bucks on gift tags. Instead, cut a paint chip down to just two inches or so. As you can see in the sample picture, we scalloped the edge of our tag with scissors. Use a pen and write the recipient’s name on the tag as well as your own. It is the perfect pop of color and such a practical idea.
6. Thrifty paint chip tree.
Make your own sweet paint chip tree in no time. Simple fold your paint chips on the white lines that separate the colors. Bend the chip to form a square shape. Create these in a variety of sizes. You can slide like sizes one inside the other to create a box (as we did with the bottom of our tree) or leave them hollow. Stack the completes boxes in various sizes on top of each other. Use glue to secure them. Snip a simple star out of a lighter paint chip and attach it to the top of the tree. How sweet would a whole forest of these trees look?
As you can see, there are so many fun, frugal, and practical uses for paint chips especially during the holiday season. So grab some paint chips and give these ideas a try. You are sure to come up with something fun!
