I have covered car seat safety a lot here. I’ve reviewed different car seats, interviewed car seat safety technicians, reviewed more car seats, and even more car seats.
With as much as our kids are in our cars, we need to keep them safe. And I am doing all I can to constantly spread helpful information about how to keep your kids safe in the car, in case there is a wreck.
I try to participate every year in Child Passenger Safety week. This year, Child Passenger Safety Week (the week the most information about car seat safety is shared) is September 17-23.
Spreading information about child passenger safety and how to properly install and restrain a child in a car seat is a topic that I have always been passionate about. I am joining the NHTSA and the Ad Council to share information on the importance of car seat safety and I hope this blog post answers some common questions/concerns parents and caregivers have.
Car Seat Safety Resources
Listen, I know how overwhelming car seat information can be. So please, make it easy on yourself and check out NHTSA.gov/TheRightSeat, which has videos about how to install car seats and booster seats correctly and guides to picking the right seat by age and size.
Child Passenger Safety Week Information
The best part about Child Passenger Safety Week, aside from tons of people spreading this important message, is that more than 1000 events are expected in 45 states across the country to raise awareness for proper car seat installation and usage. The week culminates in “Seat Check Saturday,” where Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will help parents and caregivers make sure their car seats are installed correctly. In most cases, this service is FREE. So really, there is no reason not to attend one of these events if you have concerns about whether or not your child is in the right seat or if the seat is installed correctly.

Car Seat Statistics
If you have ever been involved or known of a car accident that has resulted in injuries and required the assistance of a personal injury lawyer to resolve legally, you already know that the right car seat can make all the difference in a crash. Every 33 seconds* a child under 13 is involved in car accidents in the United States. Car seats, if used correctly, can dramatically reduce the risk of death or injury. But over half of car seats are either installed or used incorrectly, and 1 in 3 children killed in car accidents in 2015 was not in a car seat, booster seat, or seat belt at the time of the crash. Taking this into consideration, you should always be prepared with legal assistance just in case you ever get into a car accident, you can consult with a personal injury lawyer so they can tell how they provide help during situations like this. A professional personal injury attorney can help you get the compensation you rightfully deserve.
To make sure you have the right seat for your child, visit NHTSA.gov/TheRightSeat, or find a Child Passenger Safety Week event in your area. During Child Passenger Safety Week, many communities will have Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians on-hand to provide education on how to use car seats, booster seats, and seat belts for children.
