SweetPea Beauty – Veggie Tales movie for girls ~ Giveaway & Coloring Pages!

Big Idea Entertainment is releasing a lovely Veggie Tales movie for girls that will hit shelves August 3, 2010. You can pre-order SweatPea Beauty from Amazon.com for the low price of $13.49.

This movie is perfect for girls of all ages. It teaches concepts about beauty that I struggled with as a little girl and still struggle with today – feeling like I am not “pretty enough.” Of course we tell our daughter that she is lovely just the way she is, but Veggie Tales puts it in a way that little girls can understand.

It starts with a video question from a girl about 10 years old who is self-conscious of her braces and glasses, worried she isn’t as pretty as the other girls in her class. Then the story unfolds in true Veggie Tales fashion! We are whisked away to a land of beautiful castles and enjoy two stories. The first one is based loosely on Snow White and the second resembles Cinderella. Both, however, teach how true beauty is not in your clothes or your face but in your heart.

And with all Veggie Tales movies, this one comes with another hilarious silly song with Larry – a song about pants!

In the bonus features is a new song from Christian recording artist Nichole Nordeman, “Beautiful to Me.” I have loved her music since her first album and this song is just as moving and honest as all her others have proven to be!

If you have a little girl this DVD is perfect for them. Lizzie loves all things princesses right now and I would much rather have her watch this movie over and over to learn about true beauty being from within than watching other movies that focus on the pretty princess marrying the prince.

I have some fun things for you to enjoy in celebration of the release of this new DVD. The first two thumbnails below are a parent’s guide to the movie. It includes discussion questions to use with your daughters as you watch the movie. The second page has games for gradeschool age girls, like a crossword and maze. I also have 2 fun Veggie Tales coloring pages as well!

    My kids have worn out the Super Hero Triple feature dvd, so this would be a welcome addition to their dvd collection.

    I can not pick a favorite movie I love them all! When I was in high school ages ago I used to bring Veggie Tales movies with me for the kids I was babysitting to watch. My favorite song though is My Hairbrush sung by Larry the Cucumber, who is also my favorite Character

    I used to watch Veggie Tales with a kid I babysat and have been dying to get some of these movies for my kiddos. Naturally I cannot remember any character names.
