I had a blast at BlogHer this year! I was so excited to see New York City. It was fast-paced and wore me out, but I do not regret my trip at all.
I have to say a huge thank you to Big Little Pond for sending me! What is Big Little Pond? Why it is just the one place you can find tons of baby/child product reviews from the users themselves! Read my entire explanation of the site and then go visit. You will love this place!
KiPA was my mascot at BlogHer. The Kansas Pork Association was my other sponsor and they gave me this adorable little pink piggy to take to NYC. Here she is chowing down on Delta Airline snacks! Can you believe the flight attendant brought me Sun Chips from first class? I have no idea why. Maybe she felt sorry for the poor blonde lady that was talking to her stuffed pig.
If you are an instagrammer like me (follow @mamadweeb2!) then you can go in and search #KSPork to see KiPA’s entire NYC adventure. For now though, here is a brief recap.
I was so excited to see my friends at the hotel lobby that I left KiPA in my bag. Oh well – these girls are the best!
R-L (counter clockwise) Erin, Roo, Andrea and Amy. I miss them already!
Then we toured the gorgeous Hallmark holiday suite! KiPA and I chowed down on Christmas cookies and looked at keepsake ornaments, recordable storybooks and the most creative and breathtaking cards. It was one of the most relaxing events we attended.
We woke up bright and early the next morning to go inside Radio City Music Hall and dance with a couple Rockettes! I was slightly bummed that we only got to hang out in a practice room with them, but that didn’t last long. I got over that soon as we hung out and became total BFFs.
KiPA got a picture with her! Yeah, it was pretty fun (Thank you Phizer!)
Oh boy did we run, run, RUN after that! Dash around the Expo Hall, catch a session, go to other events in other locations. It was maddening. Thank goodness for planning a meeting with BlogFrog over a delicious Frappiccino. She was ready to go – and so was I!
One of the highlights of my trip to NYC was spending time with the friends face to face that I bonded with online. These ladies are intelligent, witty, strong, and successful. I adore them. Left to Right – Jessica, Jennifer, and Sue. They enjoyed meeting KiPA!
After getting lost on my way back to the hotel (KiPA is bad with directions) I finally made it safely to the Fisher Price event. I am so glad I did! My kids are going to love this table! It makes sounds and has storage compartments for the dishes.
Then, KiPA stayed in my purse as we partied with Hasbro! That party was loud and jam packed with people. I had a blast with my friends and didn’t want to lose KiPA in the madness so I kept her safely tucked away.
At the Getting Gorgeous event we had fun pretending the Zombie (from Plants vs. Zombies) was interested in eating a piglet’s brains. Even though we all know zombies only eat human brains. We were using our imaginations, ok?
Aww!! KiPA got a milk mustache! Silly piggy. The Expo hall was full of fun photo opps like this one, but the milkman at the Got Milk booth had to be my favorite, hands down.
And just like all true BlogHer attendees, KiPA got swag! Look how happy she is to sport the pin from Kim of Dirty Diaper Laundry. That pin as almost as big as she is.
Then I collapsed from exhaustion. The party Saturday night was called “CheeseburgHer” and I went and left immediately. It was just too much noise, too many people, and I needed to relax, sleep, and decompress.
Or I tried to sleep and pack until I was invited to Korea town for karaoke at 2am. Who can turn down NYC karaoke? Not me! I might have danced a teeny bit to Britney Spears. And NSYNC. But I did not know the words to the 80s rock songs. Best. Night. EVER!
There you have it! I’m home and so happy to be with my kids and listening to the clucking of my chickens once again. But I will never forget the memories in NYC!
