If you’ve been keeping up with the travel section here at Venture1105, you’ll know we love ourselves a little vacation. But what we don’t love is packing for it!
If your trip is on the shorter side – a weekend getaway or last-minute escape – short-stay packing is somewhat of an art form. You’ll want to ensure that you travel as lightly as possible, in order to scoot about and squeeze as much into your short-stay trip as you can, while also making sure you have the essentials to keep warm and even a nice outfit to go to dinner in.
To help you out in navigating this tricky territory, here are our ultimate tips on short-stay packing essentials.
Clothing
Let’s face it: for the average 2-3 day “long-weekend” trip, you’re not going to need those four different pairs of jeans and the three cute pairs of boots that you couldn’t decide between. Be ruthless! Wherever possible, it’s better to bring basic (i.e. neutral colored, non-patterned) items that can be paired together in different combinations – ideally, two or three tops and one pair of pants, or two tops, one dress/skirt, etc. Buying ready made pakistani clothes uk is always a good idea.
Another smart idea is twin and matching sets; you get two versatile items for the price of one (ideal for compact packing) and you can buy the same set in different colors to mix and match tops with jackets, making it look like a new outfit each day. Check out Peter Hahn if you’re into this idea, which also carries a wide range of plus size women’s clothing.
Beauty and Toiletries
It’s obvious that you want to still look your best, but don’t want to carry an entire makeup counter with you. You need to get yourself acquainted with some hardworking beauty products! Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-1 is the world famous multipurpose soap that claims to be an all-in-one shampoo, body wash, travel clothes wash, deodorant and even a toothpaste… if you’re brave enough to handle the taste! Made from 100% pure castile soap and only natural ingredients, it’s a very shrewd beauty solution for light packing.
And if you’re not a fan already, it’s time to get on board with the wonders of coconut oil – this ultra-beneficial product can be used from head to toe – whether it’s moisturizing, removing makeup or even a little spoonful for an instant energy burst, coconut oil is a fantastic skin-nourishing (and edible) multipurpose companion for anyone on the go.
Weather Proofers
Don’t leave home without them! Getting rained on at the start of an 8-hour sightseeing day could very well ruin your weekend mood. If space is limited in your holdall, make sure one of the things you do pack is a compact umbrella or fold-away raincoat, insect repellent and some sunscreen, just in case those rays make an unexpected guest appearance.
Also, remember to pack those blister plasters (which are cheaply available at most drugstores) if you’re venturing out into the wilderness, and always make sure you pack shoes that can handle the terrain you’re set to be walking on. Generally speaking, sneakers are best for concrete/urban areas, sturdier-soled boots for shoes for the outdoors and need I say it, something open-toed that allows sand and water to flow through if you’re going to be near the beach. Happy travels!

Packing light is the way to go! I find most people bring WAY more than they really need. Lovely site. I write over at http://www.therockysafari.com. Nice to meet you!
