Nailing Nutrition Goals While Traveling Is Tough
Have you ever tried to find nutritious food at an airport? HA! Sure you can grab a sandwich, maybe some nuts and a banana. But when you are on a low carb, high protein meal plan, your options are seriously limited.
That’s what I keep encountering at every airport I visit.
So I have to be prepared.
When I want something sweet that also fuels my body with protein, I grab one of these Optimum Nutrition bars or cake bites. They have so many incredible flavors that I’m never bored.
And if I want something with a bit of crunch, I reach for some yummy almonds!
The Best Protein Travel Snacks
Optimum Nutrition sent me a variety of snacks that are perfect for when I travel. Here are my favorites!
These are the Optimum Nutrition Protein Cake Bites. Each flavor is unique and fulfills a different craving. If you have ever tasted a whey protein bar, you already have idea of the consistency. I like that these have such an incredibly high amount of protein in each pack.
The four flavors I tried are:
- Chocolate frosted donut
- Red velvet
- Birthday cake
- Peanut butter chocolate
Quick facts about them:
- High Protein: 20 Grams per Serving of 3 Cakes
- 2-3 Grams of Sugar per 3 Cakes
Almonds are a natural source of protein. The Optimum Nutrition Protein Almonds are whole nuts covered in a different flavor. I personally prefer the dark chocolate truffle flavor over the cinnamon roll flavor.
Quick facts about them:
- 10g Protein per 43g Serving
- 230 Calories
- 1-2g Sugar
- No Artificial Colors or Flavors
The final varieties I tried are their line of Protein Crisp bars. These are by far my favorite! They remind me of a candy bar but are high in protein – so I don’t get that blood sugar crash.
The two flavors I tried are the salted toffee pretzel and the peanut butter crunch. I am a huge fan of the salted toffee pretzel bars. They have the perfect balance of salty and sweet.
Quick facts about them:
- 20g Protein per Bar
- Delicious Light Crispy Texture
- 240 Calories, 6-7g Fat
Buy Them At Walmart
These are super easy to find in-store at Walmart. So while I am picking up my travel-sized toiletries, I grab some new Optimum Nutrition products too.
