How To Decorate A Wood Crate To Look Like A Stack Of Books
I’ll share some step-by-step photos and tips here. You can also scroll down to the printable craft card. It has all the steps together in one place.

Paint Each Section A Different Fall Color
First, paint each section of the wood crate a different fall color. The foam brushes work really well for this part. They are wide enough and very cost-effective.

Add Brown Lines
Next, use a small paint brush to fill in the gaps with brown paint. This is what makes it look like a stack of books.
The lines don’t have to be brown – you can use black or grey.

Write “It’s Fall Ya’ll”
Before you write the letters, make sure the paint is completely dry. When it is, use a pencil to write one letter per color so it reads “It’s Fall Ya’ll” from the top down.
If you are confident in your handwriting, you might not need to use a pencil. I did and I think it helped me avoid mistakes.

Finish With Ribbons and Embelishments
Finally, add your seasonal ribbon and glue some twine and raffia on top. I also added some sunflowers and a little wooden pumpkin that I painted.
This can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
Create A Wood Crate Craft For Each Season
This is such a fun and simple craft that you could make one for each holiday and season. Paint a Christmas one red and green. Make an Easter one pastel colors. Decorate one for the summer in bright blues and yellows.
Have fun with it!
