Ok, I am not literally exhausted at the end of the day, but today I am pretty tired because I did way more than just VBS.
But it is all so totally worth it!
I would show you some photos but I gotta get to bed 🙂
Just let me tell you real quick a few things about our VBS and why I am having such a total blast! Then it is total sleep time for this mama.
I am the leader for the 2 and 3 year olds. This is such a fun age to work with. Their short attention spans means you are hopping from one activity to another super quickly, so you don’t have to worry about doing complicated crafts or telling detailed stories like you do for the older kids.
I have had fun playing games outside with them like bubbles, sidewalk chalk and swinging on the swingset. Once inside I have just let my creative burst and we have had some simple and fun crafts and sang some songs too.
Today, for example, I cut out small outlines of animals and let the kids color them. Then we glued their animal to cardstock and used the adhesive-backed magnets to make their artwork magnetic. Then we sang “Old Macdonald Had a farm” and each child got a turn to place their magnet next to the farm on my metal tray and we sang the verse with their animal in it.
Tomorrow we are making lei’s by letting them thread peices of straws and felt flower shapes I’ll have prepared through a peice of yarn.
And Friday we will have coloring pages of different kid-friendly pictures (like babies, footballs, fishies, etc) and sing “He’s Got the Whole World in His hands” just like we did with Old MacDonald.
I am really having a lot of fun!
WOW. Friggin WOW. I would LOVE for Keeley to go to a bible school, but they wont let under THREE year olds in. she’s not 2 yet. there is NOTHING for her around here and it’s so frustrating. Glad you have found something you enjoy that your family can be involved with.
oh that is so frustrating Jill! I have a friend that goes to a church like that. They just don’t have the volunteers to staff a class for the smaller children (and they really do require their own class).
I have learned from her experience and mine how valuable church volunteers are. When they volunteer they really minister to the adults as well as the children don’t they?
This sounds like a ton of fun! My kiddos are past that small age but I really wish that this would have been available for us!
