My entire life is on my phone. With the invention of cloud technology, I can go a day or so without my phone, but really, it is hard. What about you? Are you like me? Do you have your schedules, your text conversations, your apps, your photos and videos – all on your phone?
I am seriously dependent on this phone. I have never purchased a cell phone without adding on an insurance plan. And I have used those plans before and they are totally worth it financially.
Now that that is out of that way…let’s chat! I have lots of stories of times I have used Asurion – I’ve been a faithful user of their service for 7 years. Let’s just say I’m accident prone and they save me tons of money.
One time I tried to save money by not purchasing insurance. I thought I’d just buy a new phone on eBay. Do NOT buy used phones on eBay. Let’s just say the previous owner failed to delete photos from the albums. gross.
That is a true story (Oh how I wish it wasn’t).
Then I bought insurance and used it.
Cell phone under water
I was chatting with my friend on Skype via video. She stopped chatting and just started to laugh. I heard *sploosh!* and my heart sunk. I slowly turned around (to the sound of my friends giggles) and saw Lucy standing over a bucket of water, my iPhone at the bottom.
Asurion saved me the cost of a new iPhone. And those are not cheap.
Or the time I dropped my phone at a garage sale and rolled over it. I searched frantically at home for it and retraced my steps only to see it crushed by the curb. ugh.
Are you like me? Do you use cell phone insurance?
Here is a fun little infographic from Asurion:
OMG, phone in a bucket!! I would have had a heart attack. I think this is definitely a smart thing to consider.
When my son was younger, he was notorious for destroying cell phones. I totally agree. Insurance is a must.
I learned this the hard way! Now…I’d much rather have it and not need it…then need it and not have it!
I will die if anything happens to my phone. This sounds like a good idea, especially since I often find myself in hectic situations because it is sometimes tough to do everything with an energetic toddler.
I’m just biding my time. I’ve never had phone insurance and never needed it. My phones have always lasted beyond their upgrades and have been handed down as toys for the kids for as long as the batteries lasted….Though, I suppose as careful as I am with my phone I can never really protect it from theft. I’m due for an upgrade soon so I’ll be putting “cell phone insurance research” on my to-do list.
Girl, you’re an accident waiting to happen! You NEED Asurion! I had it for my ex who killed a phone within two weeks of having it every time, but I seem to be pretty careful with mine. But now I’m scared!
I skipped buying insurance through our carrier because the deductible was $299! For that, I could just buy another used phone and since they send refurbished phones anyways, it didn’t make sense. I would love to insurance on my iPhone with a reasonable deductible, so I’m going to check out Asurion!
I don’t insure my phone … but I think that’s because I am SO SO SO cautious with it.
I am sure I’ll buy insurance for my kids when they are old enough for phones, though!
