What better way to celebrate winter’s blessings than to indulge in a fun treat like a snow margarita. These super simple “Snow-garitas” are wonderfully slushy and smooth without even using a blender. Use the quick and simple version if you’re a margarita newbie looking for a quick fix or try the authentic version for a refined flavor and superior texture.
Snow-ga-rita Tips:
- Using chilled ingredients will keep the snow frozen longer, making your drink nice and slushy while you sip away to your happy place.
- If snow is unavailable, multiply the recipe by 4 and add 2 cups of ice. Blend on high until completely smooth with no ice chunks left.
Quick & Simple Version —
- 1/4 cup margarita mix
- 1/4 cup tequila
- 1/3 cup snow
Pour the chilled margarita mix and tequila in a tumbler and stir in snow. Garnish with a lime and salt on the rim if desired. Serve immediately.
Authentic Version –
- 1/4 cup 100% agave tequila
- 2 tablespoons quality orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier
- 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed limejuice
- 2 teaspoons agave nectar or sugar
- 1/3 cup snow
Pour the chilled liqueur and limejuice together, then briskly whisk in the agave nectar until dissolved. Stir in the chilled tequila and snow. Garnish with a lime and salt on the rim if desired. Serve immediately.

I have been doing this for years, it makes any type of frozen drink amazing. You can’t get this type of slush with a regular blender and ice.

Yet another reason I’m bummed to live in Phoenix with no snow! How did I not think of this when I lived in Iowa? 😉
