Thank you Nokia for sponsoring this post. Visit the Nokia Body+ site for more info and start the new year off right!
Here we are into the new year – how are you doing with your health and fitness goals? I am SO excited to say that I am down 5 pounds so far. (5 pounds, 15 more to go!) I lost the first 30 pounds so easily – it seems like the last 20 are the hardest of all. It’s so easy for me to get distracted and just “cheat” a little bit – all day.
Health & Measurement Tracking With Tech
You know what helps me stay focused on my goals? Tracking my measurements. I’ll explain why tracking my measurements helps me stay focused, how to avoid obsession with measurements, and how the Nokia Body+ Scale fits into my health and fitness routines.
Tracking Measurements Keeps Me Focused
I can’t be the only person that is easily distracted from fitness goals. How do you fight the urge to just stop working out and dieting and go back to the way things were? The only problem is that the way things were was super unhealthy. I can’t go back to that. EVER.
I am motivated by attacking goals. When I see a bar graph with my weight and it has an overall downward trajectory I get a boost of happiness. It makes me want to keep that up!
It also works in reverse. When I see my body fat pounds going up, I am motivated to change my routines and work on that figure.
Avoid Obsession with Measurements
I have to put a warning here. I’ve obsessed over numbers before. I have seen myself step on the scale and moan a 1 lb. increase. No matter how helpful tracking my measurements is, I have to limit myself to 3 times a week. I only weigh myself the same time on those days (since weight fluctuates throughout the day).
Be healthy and give yourself grace. Watch the overall trend of your weight and measurements and don’t worry about the minor fluctuations.
Nokia Body+ Scale Health Tracking
The Nokia Body+ Body Composition Wi-Fi Scale is simply amazing. It tracks the following health and body measurements:
- Weight
- Body Fat
- Muscle Mass
- Body Water
- Bone Mass
- BMI
When I step on the scale, it even tells me the weather! And it is so beautifully designed in black or white that I am proud to leave it out where others can see it.
(Get 10% off at the Nokia Health store through December 1, 2018 here with this code: NEWYOU-WUK-UKX)
It works via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. When I step on the scale with bare feet (it can’t measure muscle or fat mass with socks on, I just didn’t think you wanted to see my bare feet LOL), it automatically populates my Nokia Health Mate app with my measurements!
How to Add Family Members
You can add up to 8 other family members who can all use and track their measurements in your app. So even though you set it up with your profile, when anyone else steps on it, it will read their weight too.
The only difference is that their name won’t appear on the scale like yours does, and their weight will appear in your app as “unassigned measurements.” All you have to do is tap it and assign it to their profile.
To add family members:
- Tap “Profile” in your app
- At the very bottom, tap “Create New User”
- Fill in the information! Done!
The Nokia Body+ Scale Thinks My Husband Is Me!
This is a common problem with me and my husband. We literally weigh within 2 pounds of each other. So naturally the Nokia scale has no idea it’s William and not me when he weighs himself. We found a little hack around this. When he steps on the scale, he holds my 15 pound kettlebell. Then it’s just a little matter of doing the math to know what his weight is.
The Nokia Health Mate App
Once you download the app, you can set your health goals and easily sync it with other apps to seamlessly track other healthy parts of your life (like your eating and sleeping habits.) It’s a very intuitive app that even people who aren’t techy can easily understand.
Go Attack Your Goals!
There you go! You have the tools, no go attack your goals! I am determined to get down to a healthy BMI and body fat measurement. This scale is going to help me stay accountable. How are you attacking your goals this year without losing focus?

This sounds like a really nice scale. There are so many important factors to be aware of when trying to be healthy/lose weight – and I like that this scale shows more than just weight.
Annie Kearns says
Thanks Kristy! You are so right. Losing weight is about more than just the number on the scale. I actually appreciate seeing my muscle and fat mass numbers. I can tell from those numbers I need to increase my protein intake or decrease my sugar.

OMG technology has come a long way! What a cool device. I think I would find it very encouraging to watch my muscle mass go up and fat go down. I’m glad you mentioned your former obsession with tracking and measuring. That was me a few years ago. I am better than I was, but old habits die hard.
