Teaching multiplication and division is so much easier when a child can see the numbers. Everything for this printable math game was pretty inexpensive. I bought the 30 oz. cartons of Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers Cheddar and the Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers Colors on rollback at Walmart for only $6.46, in store only. Then, you just need my printable, a clear clipboard and a dry erase marker! I love teaching math with manipulatives! I created a free printable game for you that has worked with my 4th grade daughter.
Finding Goldfish crackers is super easy. Just head on down the cracker aisle at Walmart! (Can you tell we were expecting a winter storm here?!) There are tons of varieties to choose from. I like the colorful ones but my kids prefer the tried and true cheddar ones.

Once you have your cartons of Goldfish, you are ready to help your kids play a fun math game!
You know what I love about spring? Going outside with my kids! As soon as it warms up (it was snowing when I wrote this post!) I am going to take this worksheet outside and help my kids learn their math in the warm sunshine.
The key to making this game portable so it can go anywhere with your child(ren) is the clear plastic clipboard. I was going to just laminate the paper, but then the goldfish kind of fell off their laps. The hard plastic clipboard keeps the crackers in place as they learn their multiplication and division.
How The Math Game Works
This game uses a dry-erase marker to fill in different numbers each time. So your children can play around with all sorts of numbers and see how many times one number goes into another. You can even see with groups of the first number if it’s evenly divisible by each other or not.
The example above is perfect: how many times does 3 go into 3? After moving the crackers into groups of 3, your child can see it goes into 3 exactly 1 time.
Play around with all sorts of numbers. Learn about remainders and number groups. It’s a really fun and hands-on way to learn!
