Although a very simple concept, being healthy can be both complicated and pricey. There are some very budget-friendly healthy habits you can learn! But they aren’t the norm. In fact, from trendy gyms to superfoods, and exercise equipment and gear, there are countless ways to spend money on the idea of being healthy but often the most basic efforts are the ones that stick.
Budget-Friendly Habits – Stay Healthy Without Going Broke!
Maintaining both a healthy body and a healthy mind can indeed be done on a budget. With some simple recipes, a whole host of free apps, and some minor lifestyle changes, you’ll find yourself resilient to the latest health fads and even the most persuasive of health advertisements. Here’s our list of budget-friendly ways to begin some healthy habits:
Try meditation
Although mindfulness became quite the buzzword a couple of years ago, it is without a doubt an excellent habit to form. Mindfulness can be practiced simply with meditation, exercise and a few mindfulness exercises. There are various free apps to assist both first-timers and experienced users alike. Headspace, Calm and Aura. Try out a few and see which suits your rhythm and preferences best.
Wear a watch
The initial cost of purchasing a watch may not seem the most budget-friendly idea, but it will be in the long run. As we all know, our smartphones not only run out of battery life far too fast, but are also a great cause of distraction if being used for time keeping. Wearing a wristwatch can reduce our dependency on our smartphones and perhaps make time for more productive activities.
Experiment with fermentation
The benefits of fermented foods are no secret and we’re all becoming more aware of the importance of a healthy gut. Everyone is turning to the likes of kombucha, kimchi, pickles and miso, and therefore, the prices are quickly increasing. However, don’t forget that fermentation at home can be done quite easily. For fermented vegetables, all you need is a vegetable of your choice and a brine (salt water).
Fermentation gets slightly more complex with your own kombucha or water kefir SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast) but it can be equally as enjoyable and far cheaper than buying the likes of bottled kombucha and kefir in a store.
Keep moving
You don’t have to sign up to a pricey yoga class or kit out your home with exercise gear in order to stay fit. There are thousands of exercise videos online and a large portion of them only require a yoga mat. Reach out to Aquaholic if you want custom yoga mat printing.
