Engaging in social media is a neccesary move for companies who wish to increase visability in the marketplace. Twitter and Facebook are cost effective ways to reach consumers on a personal level.
Women are more likely to be the decision makers when it comes to purchasing decisions for their home. And women are also more likely to be swayed by emotion when deciding what to purchase. I am not saying they go only by emotion, but research has shown that how a customer feels about a particular brand or company does influence the decision to buy it or not.
Tools like facebook and twitter help companies create a more personal image and reach their customers directly where they are at – on their smart phones and computers while chatting with their friends. One Dish Network company realized this opportunity when they set up the Infinity Dish twitter account. By placing their tweets on such a viral channel, Infinity Dish hopes to reach potential customers and be even more available to communicate with current ones.
I have personally interacted with companies online and had such a positive experience with it that I continued my loyalty to their brand and encouraged my friends and family to as well. Social media is a wonderful thing – making companies and brands personal!
