Two weeks ago our shiny new Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer arrived! The newness has still not worn off – we all adore them! This is the first front-loading washer I have ever owned and I feel very spoiled right now. I’m part of a group of mom bloggers reviewing the Duet through Mom Central – we are the #WhirlpoolMoms and you can follow our tweets on twitter to stay current on what we think of them.
My biggest worry when I signed up was “how do I effectively wash my cloth diapers in this front loader?” I’ve read countless stories of diapers getting stink issues from being washed in front loaders due to the water-saving capabilities. As I washed my first load I was a bit perplexed. Which option do I do? There are so many choices – and then there are options in the choices! My favorite feature is I can create my own setting and name it “cloth diapers.” Then, I just have to tell somebody “put in the dirty diapers, set it to the cloth diaper setting, thanks!” I will show you step-by-step later how I created my cloth diaper cycle.
It rocks.
My other favorite thing about this set? The bottom drawers! I store Lizzie’s favorite towel down there, the dryer sheets and dryer balls down there. They are so handy. The only thing adding drawers below does, however, is make this set pretty tall. It comes with a table to place on top of the set, to keep things from falling between it and give you a flat surface to fold on. But I can’t use it because my cabinets above are too low. It doesn’t exactly matter, I wouldn’t use it as a folding table anyway because I can’t reach above very comfortably, since I am so stinkin’ short.
A washing machine has a bajillion options including the ability to squirt the exactly perfect amount of detergent into your laundry. Fill the dispenser and it does the rest.
But the dryer is way super smart too. You know how you leave clothes in the dryer too long and they get all wrinkled? So you dry them again, only to forget again? This has a setting for that. It’s called “wrinkle guard” and it will continue to fluff your clothes every couple minutes until you either power it off or open the door. Pretty nifty!
I will be writing about my Duet in the coming months – now go check out Felicia’s set! She wrote an informative little piece about her favorite features called “There’s an app for that!“
I wrote this review while participating in a test-drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a complimentary Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer to facilitate my review. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind.

NICE! I need smart a smart washer and dryer too!
LOL Robyn, it sure does make my job easier. Less thinking – I need that!
I am loving the wrinkle guard option and the precision dispenser. Hope it is doing good for your cloth diapers:)
So far it is washing my cloth diapers super well! Time will tell if I need at adjust my cycle for better rinses or more water usuage.
The wrinkle guard option is the BEST. But I had to tell my husband after it ran for the 5th time to take his shirt outs LOL 🙂
wow… when you are done w/ these you can hand these done to me next too. lol… WOW…. nice annie. WOW….. !!!!!!!!
Wow, it looks awesome! I love the “continual fluff” thing of the dryer!
Thye sound wonderful!
The precision dispense is one of my favorite features of them all!
And I just bought liquid detergent so I can use it! What else is cool about the precision dispense is that I can take it out. I use powder for my cloth diapers so being able to take it out when I do a load of dipes is a huge help.
Okay that is totally cool that you can program a wash to be for cloth diapers! LOVE IT! And the washer and dryer are beautiful!! I want those!
they sure are pretty aren’t they? I loooove the stainless steel 🙂
I’m a fan of the FanFresh! We always forget our laundry over night and this has been a super saver!
That sounds way too complicated for me. But I would like the bottom drawers.
I got a front loading washer about a year ago now. I do really love it for certain items, large blankets, items that have buckles and straps, ect. But I find that it does not get a lot of the really soiled baby stuff clean… And it takes FOREVER to wash! A short wash cycle is an hour long and a heavy wash cycle 1.5 hours long! It takes me forever to get my laundry done now. How is your machine for cleaning up messy toddler clothes?
