The Kansas Beef Council just added a fun and engaging new section to their site. Right now you can take a short quiz (remember those teen magazine ones?) and learn what type of cook you are. The new My Plate, My Way interactive tool offers personalized tips and recipes to guide healthy eating choices that are tailored to you, while fitting in with USDA’s dietary guidelines.
There are eight categories you could fit into. A few examples are “Cost slicer,” “time tackler” or “family chef.” I seriously thought I was going to be a “Time Tackler.” When it comes to cooking for my family, I am crazy busy and don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen doing prep work.
But surprise! The results came back as “Family Chef!” Here is a little blurb it gave me with my results:
You can feel good about serving lean beef to your whole family—it provides 10 essential nutrients and has been shown to help with weight maintenance and heart health, all while tasting delicious!
Your family will be impressed when you serve them Beef Breakfast Pizza Ole or Moroccan- Style Beef Kabobs with Spiced Bulgur at your next meal.
I agree, I really do value the family aspect of dinner and serving a healthy meal together warms my heart! So this was spot on! As for the suggested recipes, I decided to try the Beef Breakfast Pizza Ole. It was supposed to have eggs on top, but this is how it turned out:
Read the Beef Breakfast Pizza Ole recipe – it is so easy to make. My only issue was that something ran down into my oven and caused lots of smoke. Maybe it was egg, maybe it was cheese or grease from the hamburger meat. But it sure made my kids laugh and created some good memories. Even without the eggs, this pizza was delicious.
Your turn! Go to My Plate My Way and tell me what kind of cook does it say YOU are?
I received a gift card to help me buy ingredients to make this pizza. All opinions are 100% my own.
I thought I’d be a Time Tackler and I’m a Time Tackler! I love eating healthy and getting things done quick and easy. We eat a simple chicken dinner with a side of veggies and a starch most nights. I personally skip the starch and add an extra helping of veggies!
Lee 🙂
I like to skip the starch and add more veggies too. Great minds think alike!
I am a family chef! It suits me well 🙂
I’m a Family Chef! 🙂

What is your favorite meal to make for family dinners? I prefer simple so I have more time to really spend with them.
Mmmm, I love beef. I’m a Time Tackler!
You and me both! Steak is my favorite, but we don’t eat it often.
I am a family chef!
I’m definitely a time tackler. I love making delicious dishes but don’t like spending all day in the kitchen. This recipe sounds fantastic I’ll have to check it out.
HA – I got family chef. NO WAY! 🙂
LOL!! Same here! I was like – really?? I do love my family, but I am so totally a time tackler
Family Chef! It speaks the truth!!
I wasn’t sure what I would be but I’m a Family Chef, too!
I hope you find some delicious recipes on that site. I know I found some surprisingly delicious ones.
You are a Family Chef! Looks like I’m the same as many others
I know Jonathan. Not many people got Cost slicer…..which shocks me.
Family Chef again!
I’m a Cost Slicer
I think you are my first cost slicer! LOL!! Do you have a favorite way to make a wholesome dinner on a budget? I need all the tips I can get.
I don’t really have a way, I just usually clip coupons whenever I can and get the store brand sometimes (they are usually the same as the well-known brands, but cheaper).
Cost Slicer. That’s a fun little quiz. Hadn’t thought about meal planning values in this way before.
Expected to be Lean Lover or Flavor Saveur because of really liking to find new (free) recipes. But I guess it is more important to me that they are free :). That’s my Mom’s influence.
