What do you remember most from Summer camp? I remember crafts, freezing pool water, making amazing friends, writing them letters (with stamps!), acquiring a taste for different foods, and the empowerment of riding a horse.
Since Summer camp season is almost here – in fact, most are accepting registrations right now – I asked my Facebook and Twitter friends what they remember the most from camp. What they shared will make you laugh, and possibly make you relive some delightful memories!
- A snake will NOT jump out of the lats {outdoor bathroom} and bite your bum in the middle of the night. (Shannon)
. - How much I truly appreciate indoor plumbing. (Tracie)
. - How to kiss. With tongue (Jessica Gottlieb)
. - There are 12 different ways to sing “Boom, Chicka Boom.” (Michelle)
. - How to take a really fast freezing cold shower! (Lauren)
. - I learned that even though you are 9 or 10 not everyone remembers to use the toilet when they are wearing their swimsuit and there is someones poop on the shower floor… (Sheila)
. - That I hate camping. (I kid.) (Erin)
. - That boy you thought was SO cute….really isn’t. (Lindsay)
. - How to go Cow Tipping. (Wendy)
. - That having a shaving cream fight, allows you to shape your hair into wicked shapes!
. - Make sure you check your bunk bed, prior to crawling in… You might find a snake, mouse, or freaky spider!
. - That I hated archery, color war, and tree identification! Yet, I went to summer camp for 10 straight years and would love nothing more than to be back there again! (All 3 from Jennifer)
. - Early morning polar swim should be left to the polar bears.
. - The mail (USPS) is super slow- that note I wrote to mom and dad begging them to come get me arrived the day I went home. (Both from April)
Your turn!! What did you learn from Summer camp? Which one of these did you relate to most?
Disclosure: I am a compensated ambassador for the Camp Wood YMCA Camp in Kansas. This is part of a 3-month blog series about Summer camps! All opinions are 100% my own.

Annie, in this world of technology, I find comfort in the fact that summer camps are still available and a reminder that unplugging and soaking in the wonder of nature is a beautiful thing!
I cannot forget the numerous summers I spent at summer camp, and I really did learn many life lessons! Thank you so much for sharing! I tweeted and shared with a friend from summer camp!

This is so timely – my husband and I were just talking about summer camp last night! When I was a kid, I learned that food in your bunk meant ants came to visit! LOL

As someone who’s never been to summer camp (Having grown up in Hawaii, I camped with family all summer long at the beach. Not many of us really went away for summer camp. lol), these made me laugh. I’ve always wondered about those summer camp experiences I missed out on.
