Gift Baskets and Jars Are the Best Gifts For People You Don’t Know Very Well
Have you ever experienced this kind of panic? You look at your upcoming holiday parties list and see a few names. Maybe it’s your brother’s new girlfriend. Or your father-in-law. Or the brother-in-law that you only speak to once a year.
What the heck do you give them for Christmas?
Sure…you could just go and pick up one of those pre-made boxes at the store. But if you want to send the message that you care, that might not be the best route.
Homemade is always better. It shows the receiver that you cared enough to pick out each item and make it yourself.
DIY Coffee Gift
If you know someone that loves drinking coffee, this little jar is perfect! They can reuse the mason jar for iced coffee in the summer. And you can pick out specific flavors of coffee for each person. It’s very simple. But the gift tag is completely unique. Download it here and your gift will stand out from the crowd.
I have a printable recipe card at the end of the post if you want instructions in one place.
Supplies You Need:
The supplies list is pretty self-explanatory. Be creative and use their favorite team’s colors on the ribbons.
- Clear wide-mouth jar
- Instant coffee or latte packets
- Cinnamon sticks
- Small bottle of creamer
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- “Have a Cup of Cheer” printable gift tag
- Ribbon or string
- Coffee-themed holiday ornament (optional)
- Tissue paper or gift basket shreds (optional)
So you will pick out everything you want to include in the jar. Here is how it all fits in the jar. This is the way I found that fits the best and looks beautiful from the outside too.
If you don’t know the person very well, play it safe and pick out normal-flavored coffee packets.
Other Jar Gift Ideas
You can fill a jar with other things too. Try one of these ideas:
- Hot Cocoa – fill with hot chocolate packets and marshmallows
- Tea – Fill with a variety of tea bags and cinnamon sticks

Materials
- Clear wide-mouth jar
- Instant coffee or latte packets
- Cinnamon sticks
- Small bottle of creamer
- “Have a Cup of Cheer” printable gift tag
- Ribbon or string
- Coffee-themed holiday ornament (optional)

Instructions
- Line the bottom of a wide-mouth jar with tissue paper or shredded basket filler if you have chosen to use it.

The small bottle of creamer could also be replaced with a flavored extract or a small honey bottle as well, if you are gifting the jar to someone who does not enjoy creamer in their coffee.
- Place the lid on the jar.
- Cut out the “Have a Cup of Cheer” printable gift tag.
- Punch a hole in one corner of the tag, and use a piece of ribbon or string to tie it around the lid of the jar. You can also tie a coffee-themed ornament with the gift tag if you choose.
