For the past 3 weeks I have been battling the cat peeing in our toy room.
So I tried to solve it myself. I used vinegar as my own version of carpet cleaning but that did not work at all! It smelled like pickled cat pee – gross! Then some friends suggested Nature’s Miracle. That worked really well.
But she was continually peeing.
So of course all my money spent on cleaning the pee was just going down the drain – literally.
Finally somebody agreed to solve the problem and his dad – who is a veterinarian – was helping us too.
It took three more rounds of carpet cleaning, a brand new litter box and Comfort Zone with Feliway diffuser before she finally stopped!
That diffuser has pheremones in it that help stressed out felines. It seems to be doing the trick. Ever since we plugged it in we haven’t found any new pee spots!
I hope we don’t have to experience carpet cleaning again and again. That was a lot of work. Since it is the toy room there was a lot of things to move out and my living room is flooded with toys. Now I can finally move things back. Oh joy!
wow. get gloria one for her room
i would also suggest this stuff called deter. we used it for our cats when the ate the christmas tree or when scooter would pee somewhere he shouldnt. it helped us. good you have a vet in the family though!!! cat pee does stink and takes forever toget out. our storage room still faintly smells of it. i think i just have to bleach it all one day
I have heard that you shouldn’t use bleach or ammonia to clean up cat pee since the combination of those with the ammonia in the cat pee can cause harmful gasses. But Nature’s Miracle really works well to get the smell totally out! It was working really well to clean up my carpet except the cat kept peeing…..but now that she has stopped (I think) I will buy more and clean it again.
yay! so happy Feliway worked! (it never did for Vinny. He was such a problem child, but we loved him anyway)
Wow, I am glad that cat stopped it’s nasty habit. I like cats, but am kind of glad DH is allergic, so getting one is not an option.
Glad it seems that you found the solution to the problem! Hope you find no more pee spots!
Wow! Sorry you were having such a problem! There is not a small I hate more than cat pee! YUCK!
I will pray that this will continue working lol 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion. We have an issue with our cat peeing in our downstairs bathroom and I seem to be the only one who can smell it! But I know it happens periodically and I’m going to try the diffuser you mentioned.
We were having issues with our cat when we brought him home, he is a lot better now. With him it was a mix of him thinking his little box wasn’t clean enough and stress/attitude. We had bought a pheromone collar but it was all cracked so we returned it, just the couple of minutes of us trying to get it on him calmed him down for a couple of days. If he starts up again I think we will get the diffuser, hope it works for him.
I have heard that pheromone collars work great too! It really amazes me how animals pick up on our stress. Thanks for sharing Chrissy!
