Mini Apple Pies in Wonton Cups
Have you ever wanted to try something out of the ordinary? Try to break out of the hum-drum and surprise yourself.
That is what these are.
Yes, everyone knows and loves apple pie. And you’ve probably seen mini apple pies or even apple tarts online.
But have you ever tried to make them in mini wonton cups, covered in a dusting of sugar? Well, you should.
This recipe gives you everything you love about apple pie – the soft apples, the rich and sugary sauce – and adds an unexpected crunchy shell.
These are about to become your new favorite way to bake apple pie!
What type of apple is best for baking?
The best apples for baking are Granny Smith apples. They are tart and hold up to baking really well. You don’t want to use a really sweet apple because you are already adding a lot of sugar to the filling.

How long do you cook mini apple pies in wonton cups?
You’ll pre-bake the wonton wrappers for about 8 minutes. Then, you will make the filling on the stove – that takes about 10 minutes. It all finishes in the oven just long enough to heat it all through.

How to Make Mini Apple Pies in Wonton Cups, Step-By-Step
Now I’m going to show you every step of the baking process. As you can see, these are super easy. They look delicate and involved, but they aren’t.

First, prepare the wonton wrappers with melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon. This is also my favorite way to season my toast.

The second step is to lay 2 shells in each muffin cup. Lay one in, then turn the next one 90 degrees. This gives the cups the flower petal look.

Third, bake the shells for 8 minutes at 350 degrees.

Next, you’ll make the filling. In a skillet combine the apples, sugar, spices and butter. After the apples are softer, you’ll add the cornstarch mixture. The cornstarch thickens the sauce up a bit.
Then, remove the filling and let it come to room temperature.

After the chilling cooled a bit, fill the wonton cups. Just them in the 350 oven for about 5 minutes, enough time for them to heat back up.

Serve them warm! You can even add a bit of whipped cream or some ice cream.
They are delicious!
